MISSION STATEMENT

It is the Mission of this fellowship to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, sharing Him with others; to the glory of God the Father, by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the Knowledge of God according to His word.

Fairview Cornerstone Baptist Church is part of the Canadian National Baptist Convention of churches.

 

OUR VISION

It is our vision to see God’s church in this area working together as the local
family of God, declaring His salvation and glory through the Spirit’s enabeling
and unity kept in the bond of peace.

 

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

Our Church is Evangelical. 

 

 1- Scripture

 We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant and authoritative Word of God.
We believe the Bible is the final authority in every area it addresses for every
Individual Christian, as well as for the church collectively.
( 2 Tim. 3:16-17, 2 Pet. 1:21, John 10:35 )

 2- The God Head 

 We believe there is one God who eternally exists as three persons: Father, Son
and Holy Spirit. We believe that all things were created by Him and for Him
(Deut. 6:4; Isaiah 45:21-22; Matthew 28:19; Colossians 1:16; John 4:24). 

We believe that God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe,
His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the
purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise,
holy and Just. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God
through faith in Jesus Christ. He is fatherly in His attitude toward all men.

 We believe that God the Son became a human being in the person of Jesus
Christ. That He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a
sinless life (for He was without sin), died a substitutionary death for all mankind,
was raised from the dead the third day, ascended into heaven and is seated at
the right hand of God until His enemies are made His footstool (John 1:1; 14,
Matt. 1:18-25; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Pet. 3:18; 1 Cor. 15:3-4; Heb. 10:12-13; Col.1:15 ) 

We believe God the Holy Spirit was sent by the Father and the Son to convict the
world of sin, righteousness and judgment. We believe the Holy Spirit, indwells,
regenerates and seals believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that He empowers
them to live as His witnesses (John 14:16-17; John 16:7-11; Titus 3:5-6; Rom.
8:9; 1 Cor. 6:19-20; Ephesians 1:13-14; Acts 1:8; Rom. 12:6-8;
1 Cor. 12:13-14; 1 Pet. 4:10-11). 

3- Man 

 We believe that God created human beings, male and female, in His own image.
He created them sinless, equal in value, dignity and worth. (Genesis 1:26-28; Ephesians 5:22-6:4; 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Acts 17:26). 

4- Sin and Salvation 

We believe that, as a result of the fall, all people are sinners by nature and in
need of a Saviour, and that Jesus Christ is the one and only Saviour of the world.
That salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. We believe
that all who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved eternally (Rom. 3:10;
Rom. 3:23; Rom. 5:12; 18-19; Matthew 1:21; 1 John 4:14; John 14:6; Acts 4:12;
Ephesians 2:8-9; Rom. 10:9).

5- The Church

We believe there is one church, the body of Christ, consisting of men and women
from every tribe, tongue, people and nation. We believe that each local
congregation is an expression of that universal church. We believe in the spiritual
unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:3-4; 1 Cor. 12:12-13;
Revelation 5:9; Acts 2:42-47).

6- Baptism

We believe baptism is to be the first step as an act of obedience after salvation. It
is the public testimony symbolizing the believer’s identification with the death,
burial and resurrection and person of Christ. It is to take the form of complete
immersion (when ever possible). ( Mark 16: 16, Acts 2:38, Acts 8:12, Acts 19:4-5,
Rom.6:3-4, Colossians 2:12-13)

7- Future

We believe in a literal , eminent, return of Jesus Christ to the earth and for the
consummation of God’s redemptive plan (Jude 1:14; Revelation 19:11-16;
Revelation 20:4).

We believe in the resurrection of the dead. Believers will be raised to life and
unbelievers to shame and everlasting contempt (hell) (Daniel 12:2; John 5:25-29;
Revelation 21:1-22:5).

8- Spiritual Gifts;

We believe that all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in Scripture are
available to and active in His church today, as God wills. (John 14:16-17; John
16:7-11; Titus 3:5-6; Rom. 8:9; 1 Cor. 6:19-20; Ephesians 1:13-14; Acts 1:8; Acts
2:38 ; Rom. 12:6-8 ; 1 Cor. 12:14; 1 Peter 4:10-11).

9- Women in Ministry; We are complementarian.

We believe that God created human beings, male and female, in His own image.
He created them sinless, equal in value, dignity and worth. According to His
purpose and design, God created them to fulfill distinct but complementary roles
in the contexts of marriage, family and the local church (Genesis 1:26-28;
Ephesians 5:22-6:4; 1 Timothy 3:1-7).

10- Angels; (satan, demons)

We believe that angels are created beings, that they are to serve God and
minister to His people. That satan and his demons, evil spirits and fallen angels,
oppose God’s work and His people, that they can only act within the boundaries
allowed by God. (Ps.148:1-5; Col.1:16-17; Matt.22:28-30; Heb.1:6; Ps.103:20;
I Pet. 1:12; Heb.1:14; Matt. 12:24, 25:41; Lk.10:17-18; I Jn.4:4; Job 1:12)
